USS Ault
March 4, 2010

Ed Eldredge served in the US Navy from 1943 till 1946.
A brilliant man who served many years as a professor at the University of Michigan. It was quite apparent that he was a distinguished gentleman who was very kind and generous. He was very determined to share his story, and spent a lot of time with us. As time has passed Ed has become effected by Parkinson’s disease. Behind his struggle lies a rich history of events.

I deeply appreciate this remembrance and website. My father served aboard the USS Ault during this same time period as a helmsman (QM2). I’ve searched for any information about the ship and its crew during this time period. Dad never talked a whole lot about his wartime experiences. Again, thanks.
I have recently discovered that my grandfather served on this destroyer in WWII. I have a dollar bill that he peeled in half and had his friends sign. It’s not in bad condition for 65+ years old. I will be be sure to look to see if your Dad’s signature is listed. Thank you for putting this video together. It was nice to see.

Hello,
My grandfather Ed Eldredge passed away on Sunday July 10th 2011. He was a wonderful man and will be dearly missed. I was unaware that this interview existed until it was pointed out to me yesterday. I’m very pleased it was conducted and that his personal experience aboard the USS Ault recorded for posterity. Thank you Chris Wulf.
