A transport war

June 5, 2009

Julius Bono ( Bo-na) fought a very different kind of war. He served 4 years in the army air corps during world war two. He didn’t fly in a bomber, or fighter plane but a C-47 ( Sky Train). A defenseless airplane that is well known as the plane which dropped paratroopers out of the sky, and as commercial airline after the war.

They flew missions alone, to support the front lines, hopping from island to island all over the Pacific. Often the first planes to land, Julius shares a very different war story which is often overlooked.
