Kathryn Vadas was born in New Jersey and moved to Toledo,OH shortly after World War Two. Kathryn served in the 6th WAC ( Women’s Army Corps ). She found herself firing anti-aircraft guns, and in the presence of Eleanor Roosevelt while in Washington DC. The war eventually took her overseas serving in SHAEF ( Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force ) located in Bushey Park, England.

Her travels then took her through France and into Germany, where she stayed until the end of the war.
